TIMP HIKE 2011.

This time we mixed it up a little and started at Midnight;)

Volley ball is highly competitive with the Alvey's. There were two injuries. I ( Kate ) hyper extended my elbow due to Jake's 80 MPH serves. And Gina re tore some ligament in her ankle and had to have surgery;( Hope we can all recover for next year;)

It's not an Alvey party with out a potato launcher or water ballon slingshot. All the kids were standing far out in the field and trying to catch them with towels.

Lagoon

We got ticket through Jason's work Usana. And took the kids for a day of play. It was a blast We got there early and closed the place down. Good thing Jenna loves all the jarring, brain stirring, make you dizzy rides. Cause Mama is getting old. And Zach is an adrenaline junky. So Jenna got to be his partner on all of those kind of rides.

I will never forget waiting for them to get off the roller coaster Wicked and noticing they were next. While watching them from the side and next thing I hear is Zach giggling like a little girl while going on the first blast off. My hubby is such a big kid. I love it;)

I have been lucky enough to go on the Kindergarten field trip to the zoo with all of my kids. So I was sad to think that this was my last one. Where has the time gone. It was really fun although it rained the whole time ( They have very good hot cocoa ) And the animals were the most active I've ever seen them. And I go at least once a year;)

This tiger was awesome he kept jumping in the water and circling right in front of us. He even playfully batted the window at us. And gave us a really loud growl at a random bird that was bugging him;)

Grandma and Grandpa Alvey's annual egg hunt.
every year they have an egg hunt and dinner. It is alway an awesome hunt with lots of prizes even for the adults.
Each kid has their own prize egg to find with their name on it. Some of the prizes for the adults were movie passes, a subway gift card. And others but I'm not sure cause I didn't find any of them.

Jenna found the gold egg this year containing $5.

Easter Morning.

Each year the easter bunny takes the eggs that we color and hides them along with the kids easter baskets. This year the easter bunny was too tired to hide the eggs. Brady bless his heart didn't want Brooke to be disappointed and got up even before me and hid all the eggs without being asked and without waking me up. I love my little guy;)

Egg coloring

Every year we do egg coloring at Grandma Debbie's. But due to hectic schedule she was unable to do egg coloring this year. But my kids weren't going to let me off that easy. So at last minuet I call my little sister Annie and my big Brother Luke and had them come over with their kids to color eggs this year. It was really fun and their kids are still little and so excited to do egg coloring. I have the cutest nieces ever! Oh And Nephews but none were present;)

High School Rotary Club Egg Hunt.

I remember going a few times as a kid to the egg hunt. And loved the memories. Of course I had to take my own kids. It has been a few years since we have gone to one. I think Brady was 5 the last time we went. It is always rainy and cold. Who wants to drag their kids to something that they have to bundle up for. This year rain was on the horrizon but not ready to fall yet so we headed over. Not many more of these to go in my life and it makes me a little sad that I've wasted the last 5. My kids are growing so fast;(

KINDERGARTEN EGG DROP.

Each year the Kindergarten does an egg drop off the top of the school. Each student is ask to package a raw egg so that it will survive a drop from the roof of the school. (Anything goes) It was fun to see all the creativity. Some had parachutes, some we inside stuffed animals. But we packaged Brookelynn's in toilet paper inside a glad container then wrapped with crumpled tin foil to absorb the drop. And It SURVIVED;)

Traditional Birthday Breakfast.
Every birthday I let the birthday kid pick their favorite Hot breakfast. Jenna's is French toast;)
I always make hot breakfast (I'm talking every day) and it was brought to my attention that they think it would be more special if I'd let them have cold cereal for their birthday. A whole box all to themselves;) silly kids.

12 reasons why I love this girl for her 12th Birthday.
1. She is my best friend.
2. She is a good listener and an even better talker.
3. She is a good friend to others.
4. She is always concerned about others feelings.
5. She is funny.
6. She is SMART!!! Don't know where she gets it. Glad she can figure out her own home work;)

For Jenna's Birthday I thought it would be a treat to finally manage that mane. So I booked an appointment with Jokell at Studio H in Payson for a little birthspaday;) She knew about it and told all of her friends at school who thought she was going to look weird with thinner shorter hair and bangs to boot. But after the deep conditioning treatment and 2 hours later I think she looks all grown up.

While in St. George we did a Sunday hike at Dixie Rock before leaving and then took the kids down to tour Brigham Youngs house. It was a great weekend;)

This cool cove reminds me of little alcoves in art museums. How much would you pay for this piece of art???

While we were in St. George we got to go on a date night. ( I love having a 12 yr old. ) To a super cool super yummy Steak house. Where we had Cheese Fondue and Steak they serve to you raw on a hot stone and you cook it as done as you want. With dipping sauces on the side. It was sooooo good.

We took a trip to St. George this weekend (Finally) to see Jared and Val's place ( I think they have been there 3 Yrs. ) But Brooke missed Kamri so mush she finally convince daddy to take her;)

I was having a little fun playing with my cartoon setting on my I phone. The girls liked the way they looked and kept posing.

Kamri looks like she is playing a invisible flute and Brooke looks like I didn't do it. Those girls were being so funny.

STITCHING
You can't be eating, munching and grazing if your hands are busy with something you don't want dirty;)

This is my latest stitching project and am proud to say I've been making my own patterns with clip art i've googled. I was inspired by the pictures on the set of the Celebrity Apprentice of cool antique chairs. I don't know if you can tell but it says Sit long Talk much.

This one I did a while ago. Also a pattern I created. I love Fleur de lis and flourishes. My husband makes fun of me and says why are you putting the Scout symbol all over the house. LOL I guess I am just really supportive of my little scout Brady;)

I also made a better one of this same thing for my cousin Deana for her birthday. I almost traded her cause her frame is nicer;)

P.S. I hate my pink walls so don't look too closely! Hopefully we can paint this summer and for sure will post that later.

These last two are in my daughters room she has a Paris theme we have been working on for a while. It isn't quite ready to be revealed yet. We have just a few more project to finnish then I will post it all later.

Home made play-dough
Whats a better activity on St. Patricks day then home made green and yellow Play-Dough;)

Recipie
1 cup flour, 1/2 cup salt, 1 Tbl. oil, 2 tsp. cream of tartar, 1 cup of food colored water.cook on low stirring constantly until it becomes the consistency of wet mashed potatoes. let cool then knead and waa'la;)

Mandi also showed up for a quick visit. She made a pot/nest/bowl and Brookelynn made the gold/eggs.

Mya and Dax that boy doesn't hold still and these were taken on my i-phone. ( Sorry they suck)

Shamrock mini pancakes

For St. Patricks day we had green waffles and little shamrock mini pancakes. They were a hit and scarfed down before I could get the camera out. But there was plenty when Avery showed up. She would shove the whole thing in her mouth at once. She is the cutest stinker ever!

My little stud bud is 10!

We went to dinner at Brick Oven with the Alvey's side for Brady's birthday this year.

All he wanted was money to go shopping for his birthday. ( I'm sure he wanted to make sure we got just what he wanted ) So on Saturday we took him and he got a Real big boy base ball bat and a ball, A couple of PSP games and we got him the pass of all passes for Seven peaks this year;) His Grandma and Grandpa Alvey got him a Nerf flag football set he really wanted. Glad warm weather is around the corner.

Then the next night we had our friends and grandma Moore over for cake and Ice cream. And now he has more money to go shopping with. I hope he thinks about it and doesn't blow it on crap.

I can't believe he is 10! Love you STUD;)

Science Fair time.

After a long afternoon of gum chewing ( Yes I joined in and my jaw is still sore ) They came out with a winner and the winner is Orbit with a close second Extra.

Brady and his project -Swimming Raisins.
Raisins when put in a mixture of soda water and vinegar seem to swim. When the bubbles attach to the raisins and carry them to the top. Then the bubbles pop and it lowers to the bottom again.

The kids school passed out tickets to the Flash game on valentine's day. They even scrounged up a few extra from friends so we could invite grandma and grandpa Alvey. It was a fun night.

Valentines Dinner Part 2...

It was such a fun evening of family and friends. Jenna did a really good job of serving our dinners.
The 4 course meal consisted of.
1st course caesar salad.
2nd course Creamy chicken noodle soup. ( which was to die for )
3rd course Steak or Chicken cordon bleu with green beans and the largest baked potato I've ever seen.
4th course pudding on a cloud desert.

For Valentines every year our ward holds a YW camp fund raiser Valentines dinner catered by BYU. This is the first year Jenna gets to go so she had a table this year. Normally we bought tickets from our friends the Harpers. So we knew it was going to be good.

Each girl is responsible for selling 8 tickets per table and then decorating and coming up with a theme for their table. Jenna of course loves Paris so that's how she decorated. Isn't it cute;) They are also responsible for serving us the delicious 4 course meal.

Below are some of the other girls tables. We have a large YW. I didn't get everyones only the ones that were there early to set up with us.

Super bowl 2011. As always we have a Super bowl party every year. It's lots of good food, good friends, and good family. With even more good laughs. We are not huge football fans we usually route for the under dog. But the main purpose is the Super bowl commercials.

Grandma and Grandpa as always are super giving. I think they love Christmas more than anyone.

This is the booty the kids got at the Trunk Or Treat this year. Just seeing them dump it all out, sort it and start the bartering brings back memories. I love Halloween!

Brooke has been practicing day and night. For her Halloween program. In the tub, in the car, at the dinner table. It was sooo cute to listen to her sing all her songs it was a program that couldn't be missed. Zach took the day off so he could go too & grandma Moore joined as well. She did so good and sang sooo loud. I couldn't be prouder.

The Red Barn Pumpkin Patch.

So starting last year Grandma Alvey started a new tradition. She buys all the kids new Halloween shirts, takes them to the Pumpkin patch @ The Red Barn in Santaquin. Where the give you a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch. Grandma lets all the kids pick any pumpkin they want they just have to be able to carry it themselves. Then back to grandma's for hot cocoa and pumpkin carving. This year we started with a super yummy breakfast. Which included kneaders recipe for french toast with carmel syrup.

Hay ride out to the patch. Just before the down pour.

Good thing they had a tent there for us to all huddle under. Jake, Jason,& Danny all ran a mile back to the cars to bring them to the patch so the kids wouldn't have to ride the wagon back in the pouring rain. GOOD TIMES ;)

Vegas road trip.

Zach and Derek Planned a road trip to Las Vegas for the Vegas bike rally. They left on Thursday afternoon and rode their bikes all the way to Vegas. Crazy you say. Why yes, yes it is and that is why Jen and I pulled a trailer down and joined them on Friday night. But what a blast it was to have a little get away with our friends the Harpers.

Labor Day Weekend

So like every year Labor day weekend is an eventful one. On Saturday we went on a ride with our friends the Harper's and Rocky Mt. ATV. It was really fun and really long. Then they had a great BBQ and prize drawings. I think I got too much sun, cause later that night I went to my 15 yr. class reunion VERY nauseous. But after I got a little food in me it turned out to be a really great night.

On Monday- We rose early so I could run the onion days 5K. I beat my time again. This time 29.30 min. Then back to Debbie's to get the kids ready for the parade. In the afternoon Debbie planned a soup bar. Everyone brought their favorite soup. And it was yummy!!! It was fun to try all the different one's. Kyle made one he had on his mission in Portugal.

It was my 15 year reunion this year. And Malea's husband Paul dragged me up there with promised of good fun. ( He said he would play that game form the movie date night. Where they make up conversations people are having from across the room. )

So I had one daycare kid on the Friday before the 24th but I really wanted to do something with the kids. My friend Jen and her daughter Emily are up for anything so we took the kids up Payson Canyon to the Grotto which Jen had never been to. Grotto ???? big deal you say but how can you have lived in Utah County your whole life and never have been?

Stuck behind cows while trying to get up the canyon. This nice guy behind us with a car loaded with bikes got his off and started herding the cows to higher ground.

We had a picnic at the park at the mouth of the canyon before we headed up to the Grotto.

Oh ya here is a picture of who I ran the Freedom 5K with. Thanks Amanda for being my partner. Jake and Kyle for onion days I plan on ditching you so be ready. I did beat my goal of finishing in under 30 min. I finished in about 29 Min. and 30 sec. after the delay at the starting line.

We took a short much needed get away to Park City. Rode the bikes up Friday Stayed at the Holiday Inn then played all day Saturday and came home in the evening. BIG thanks to my sister Annie and her Hubs Rhett for watching the kids butt mostly Brooke who woke up sick. Thanks for putting up with that ;)

It was a long busy weekend. First we started by camping in Grandma and Grandpa Alvey's back yard. Then an early rise with Jake and Kyle to go run the Freedom 5K. Afterward we met the family at the parade. After the parade we went back to Grandma Alvey's for a BBQ and Pool party. I needed a break from the kids playing out side in the heat. The constant applying of sunscreen, feeling like a water Nazi, sweeping up the grass tracked in from outside when they play in the water.....Soooo I got ambitious and made play dough for the kids which is a treat cause I HATE play dough. But I figured oh well if they ruin it cause I cooked it for pennies.

Recipe for cooked Play dough.
1 C. flour
1 C. water
1 tbsp. oil
1/2 C. salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar

Stir and cook until consistency of wet mashed potatoes. Take off the heat and knead by hand until it looks like play dough . Keeps for approximately 2 months. Store in refrigerator. **** I noticed it need to be heated until it is nearly impossible to stir by hand. or it will be to sticky to knead.****

Ridin 9 to 5. The scenic route.

Sunday we joined Zach's cousin Travis and his wife Amber and some of their friends for a nice scenic Sunday cruse. We started in Sandy at Jim's diner for Breakfast, then headed up immigration canyon then through every Mt. pass ( NOT HWY. ) till we came out Provo Canyon. It was a long, BEAUTIFUL ride. I didn't realize Utah had so many lakes and Res. We passed 6 in all. We went through so many small towns I never knew existed. It was really a neat ride. I look forward to the next.

While My sister Jennie and her kids are in town I wanted to make sure we were able to do something fun and cheap as a family. So why not go to the Spanish Fork Res. It was a lot of fun for all. I only wish the sand was softer. Can't complain when it is free.

Brookelynn's 5th birthday. Every year on their birthday it's tradition to make them their favorite breakfast. We also let her open one present in the morning. It was a new swimming suit and a water slide.

In the evening we had a party with family and friends. But the highlight was her face when she got her Tiana and Naveen dolls. She has wanted them since before the movie was released.

The big 5

For the grandkids 5th birthday Grandma and Grandpa Alvey take the kids for the day on an adventure to Build-A-bear.

They drive up to Sandy for lunch at the Myan, then they catch the Trax train and ride it up to the Gateway. They get to go to Build a bear and get to pick their own bear, ( Grandma has a thing for bears so it has to be a bear ) an outfit, and a few extra accessories. The also got to play in the fountains at the gate way. Normally it is only the birthday kid who goes but Jenna had a few bucks to burn and Brookelynn didn't mind the extra company. Those pictures are on grandma's camera so will be posted later.

Hogle Zoo for Momorial weekend with the Harpers.

We had a good weekend spending time with our GREAT friend the Harper's. We went to the Zoo, BBQ, and for a ride on the motorcycles. It turned out to be a great weekend. And much needed since I get only a few days off a year.

Jenna and her friend Arin had a store together at Mini Society called Maui Luau. They sold Otter Pop, Glow sticks,Candy bars, Bracelets & had a raffle for two prize baskets. They Made the poster themselves and came up with the theme too. Their school library lets you check out costumes and that is where they got the grass skirts. I'm so proud of Jenna's ability to be creative with NO HELP. It makes my life easy. I'm so blessed.

I took Brooke and two of the daycare kids (Brookes friends) along to see the Mini society. We got a hand full of the Mini society dollars from Jenna's teachers and had a blast spending it. But Brooke liked the snow cones the best.

Brookelynn cracks me up. The weather has been so nice lately she won't even come in for a nap. She had no one to play with but insisted on playing out side by herself. Brady's school's third grade classes put on a kids against violence program. I loved it the music was awesome and had very good lessons.

For one of the songs Brady was in a group that sang in front of the mic.

Spring Break
I'm a little behind but the crapy weather outside has given me an inside day so I have a chance to get on the computer.

For Spring Break I only had a few kids but of course my own were home and it was such a nice break we had to take advantage of the sun. So I packed all the kids up in the wagon and went to the park for a picnic.

Easter Dinner And Egg hunt @ Grandma and Grandpa Alvey's

Debbie made A turkey and ham dinner for Easter this year but it wouldn't be Easter with out the twice baked potatoes YUMMY!

This picture made me laugh. Brooke was upset because she didn't find the gold or silver eggs that Grandpa puts out every year containing Big money. I told her only the lucky ones find those eggs. Then she says ( mater of factly ) I am lucky mom.

Jenna's 11th Birthday party was a big hit.

We had a minuet to win it theme ( A new game on NBC Sunday nights ) And all the girls got very competitive. For each game they passed they got $20's in Monopoly money first one to $60 dollars got to choose a prize first. But all the girls got a prize in the end.

Sunday Drive

Sunday afternoon we went for a Sunday drive. We drove up AF canyon. We wanted to see how much snow was left. We went to Cabelas and had lunch & got their really yummy fudge on a two year old gift card from christmas. Thanks Jennie and JC. Then on the way home we cut through AF and stopped at castle park. GIRLS NIGHT

I was able to go to my friend Angie's house and join my other friends Rachele and Tiffani ( All friends from High School ) for a girls night. We had a Cafe Rio' salad bar. Rachele got all the recipes, I really couldn't tell the difference. Sooooo Yummy. I also brought Brookelynn along because she has never had the chance to play with Angie's girls Aubrey and Bethany. They had a really good time and stayed up as late as us.

So Brookelynn decided to go down the slide with Brady's sharp walking stick in her hands. So when she reached the bottom it hit the ground and ripped the crap out of her neck. I'm really shaken at the thought that she could have been impaled in the neck or stomach.

I though it would be a good idea to learn to ride the kids ripstick for a good core exercise. But while teaching myself to turn corners I pinched my toes between the board and the cupboard and sliced my toe open. Yes this is after it has had a day to heal and no my toes are not dirty it is the sticky sports tape I yanked off. Yes I'm in desperate need of a pedicure gift cards are welcome. The Young Women in our ward put on a Valentines Dinner every year to earn money for girls camp. And because our good friends the Harpers have two daughters we buy a ticket every year. And it turns out so do the rest of the people at our table. We look forward to sitting with them every year. It was $10 a ticket but we got a really good meal. Steak or Chicken cord on bleu. Salad, soup and rolls. And of course desert. It made for a very good night and very good company.

Our really good friends the Harpers invited us to their house for a bon fire. Which is a really good idea at the beginning of the year cause we had just cleaned out our old files and so had everyone else. They had a big barrel that the fire was in. It was pretty funny looking because all the lights in the house were off and it looked like everyone was trying to stay warm because the power was shut off. Nothing like a good old fashion hobo night.

CHRISTMAS DAY @ GRANDMA AND GRANDPA ALVEY'S

On Christmas day we gather at Zach's mom's for a Christmas dinner and gift exchange. The family bought Debbie and Gary some desperately needed blinds. They have been going with out since they built.

CHRISTMAS MORNING

This year for Christmas morning we were joined by Grandma and Grandpa Alvey & Mandi and her new BO Jason. For the opening of presents. Then afterward we had a BIG breakfast of french toast, bacon, hash-browns, & breakfast casserole.

Although we waited until the last minuet to start shopping, we were still able to get everything on there list.

Jenna got some pretty jewelry in her stocking.

Brady got the rip stick he wanted thanks to my friend Venessa over shopping at the day after Thanksgiving sales last year, and forgetting it was in her basement until this year.

Brooke got a lite brite. I loved mine as a kid.

Brady also got the new I-pod Nano. Now I can record him trowing his fits with it.

Brooke has a little obsession with snow globes and all things sparkly. So this year she got 3 snow globes and a glitter ball.

Jenna also got the I-pod nano she wanted. I don't think she has talked to me since, she is in another world.

CHRISTMAS EVE

Christmas eve they all wanted to sleep together. So we got an old mattress out of storage and threw it in the toy room for them to sleep on.

The Alvey Christmas party just wasn't the same without grandpa Ted and grandma Pat. But It was still fun for those of you who made it through the snow. And we missed all of you who were sick.

We played the Wii. We even got a little competitive on the ski jumping and soccer. And for those who wanted to chill we had Mickey's Christmas Carol playing in the theater room. Lots of pizza and treats it was fun for all.
